Meet Our Pastors

Rev. William Marler, Senior Pastor

Our Senior Pastor since November 1998, is the Rev. William R. Marler, who came to Springfield in 1986 and served 13 years as Campus Pastor and Trinity Associate Pastor, overseeing Trinity's education ministry. He is a 1983 graduate of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, where he remained until 1986 pursuing his post-graduate studies in Church History. During this time he also received his first divine call, Lutheran High School South, St. Louis, where he served as pastoral counselor and instructor. He has served on numerous circuit, district and Synodical boards and committees, and also teaches a class in the history of religion in America at Missouri State University. He is thankful that the Lord has left him here to serve Trinity and the Springfield community. "I am excited about Trinity's future, about the faith and love this congregation has for all saints, and the Gospel that is growing and bearing fruit among us." (Colossians 1:3-6)

Rev. Nicholas Hagerman, Associate Pastor

Pastor Nick Hagerman was born and raised in Bel Air, Maryland, which is a small town about 45 minutes northeast of Baltimore.  He remains an avid Ravens and Orioles fan to this day.  Pastor Hagerman was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Bel Air, where he was a member for 25 years until he arrived at Trinity here in Springfield.  In 2007, Pastor Hagerman graduated from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia with a Bachelor’s Degree in History.  He immediately afterward enrolled at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis to begin his studies for the pastoral ministry.  From August 2009 to July 2010, Pastor Hagerman served as a Vicar at Apostles Lutheran Church in Peoria, Arizona.  On May 4, 2011, he received his call to serve as Pastor here at Trinity, where he has been serving ever since. Pastor Hagerman met a lovely Springfield girl named Claire Brown on a retreat at Heit's Point Lutheran Camp on April 20, 2012.  It wasn't quite love at first sight, but it was close: they were engaged less than four months later.  They were married on April 20, 2013, a year to the day after they met.  They welcomed their first child, Kenneth James Hagerman, into the world on October 23, 2014. Kenny helped to welcome a brother in 2016, Martin Lee and on February 1, 2019 Jonathan Michael joined the family.  If you would like to contact Pastor Hagerman, you can e-mail him at

nhagerman@trinitylutheranspfd.org, or you can call him at the church office.  He would love to hear from you!
